How to use thesaurus of scales and melodic patterns

Nov 21, 2006 · I'm having trouble using Nicolas Slonimsky's book entitled Thesaurus of Scales and Melodic Patterns whick I bought last month. It doesn't provite any explanation whatsoever. If someone can give some insights with regards to the topic, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. :confused:

Thesaurus of Scales and Melodic Patterns for Guitar w/CD. There is also a section on scales, which is helpful. The patterns force you to figure out fingerings that you probably haven't used before. All in all, the material in this book helped me to think differently about construction of solos, etc.
